Program Overview Benefits About Boston U Accreditation Admissions

Program Overview

There are many accomplished individuals who, for one reason or another, never finished their bachelor’s degree. For some, earning that credential could make a significant difference in their career advancement. For others it is an important milestone of personal growth.

Through Boston University's Undergraduate Degree Completion Program (UDCP), offered in a convenient online format, students who are prepared to complete a high-quality bachelor’s degree can do so alongside other accomplished, motivated, mature students. The program’s online format allows students to accomplish their goals without disrupting personal, family, or professional commitments.

The program is totally online so you are never required to attend an on-campus class. You may want to travel to Boston for graduation ceremonies, but that is entirely up to you.

Students will develop a thorough understanding of the arts and humanities, the social sciences, and fundamentals of science—disciplines that are highly valued in today's business climate, where success often depends on interpersonal awareness, critical thinking skills, and human factors.

Rather than broad surveys, these courses focus on a particular aspect of various fields of study to examine the issues, methods, and overarching theories within that field.

The goals of the program are for students to:
  • Engage in interdisciplinary learning in the classical and contemporary liberal arts by detailed study of particular themes and disciplines
  • Develop critical thinking skills by analyzing and synthesizing all ways of knowing
  • Acquire rhetorical acumen through writing and discussion
  • Foster active citizenship by applying the liberal arts to the professional and public spheres
  • Pursue learning for learning's sake
